Song Lyric

So, I'm sitting at a bar with my friend Lori the other night
And we're getting drunk, as we are wont to do
And I tell her about this music project
And how I'd decided on a theme of watermelons
And how I found all these great stories on Google
And she tells me somewhere in her ancestry
Somebody was a watermelon farmer, right?
He had to move from Georgia, that one in Russia
To Texas, cuz I guess that's a good place to grow watermelons
Just like Georgia is, the one in Russia
So I tell her she should email me the framework of this story
And I'll do one of the songs based on it,
Sounds like a good tale to use
And I haven't heard back

Never wrote back with that story of hers
She didn't write back to this day
And tell me what thanks I'm supposed to give her
With my song going this way

So, I decided instead of trying to harass her on Thanksgiving Day
"Gimme that fucking framework!" Ya know?
I'll just, uh, write a song about I never heard back from her
And in the verses I'll just, uh, do this talking shit
Kinda make stuff up as I go along
It's pretty hard, actually, I never really thought about it
But I guess somewhere in her ancestry
There was some guy who was a watermelon farmer
And he emigrated to America, as people are wont to do
And he moved from Georgia, the one in Russia
To Texas, the one in Texas

And I know that she's gorging on turkey all day
While I'm stuck in NaSoAlMo
No, she's not gorging on turkey at all
Cuz Lori's a veggie, you know
So maybe she's having tofurkey today
That shit they make outta tofu
Maybe she's having tofurkey today
To drown down all of that booze

So then I do the piano part
And I sorta decide to do it in one take
And I don't know what the fuck I'm doing
And I make a lot of mistakes
I never impromise on the fucking piano...I think I just said impromise
But it was the best take.
I kept trying to do it where I was hitting all the right notes
But that first time it sounded right
So now I'm doing the lyrics that way
I'm just kind of, uh, babbling along as the song goes on
Except for the choruses, I wrote those out beforehand

She's probably having tofurkey today
That crap they make out of tofu
She's probably having tofurkey today
To drown down all of that booze
But she never wrote back with that story of hers
She didn't write back to this day
And tell me what thanks I'm supposed to give her
With my song going away
